Just beyond the south coast of the Australian state of Victoria, across the Bass Strait, lies Tasmania. The island of Tasmania might be the smallest state in Australia, but its size doesn’t compromise its culture. The island state is home to a plethora of wildlife, which includes penguins, wombats and the famous Tasmanian devil. Tasmania is home to wondrous wilderness and numerous national parks. You can hike the Three Capes Track or Overland Track. In Hobart, the capital city of Tasmania, you can see the handsome sandstone buildings along Salamanca Place, and Town Hall on Macquarie Street. You can ponder about artwork in the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery or at the Museum of Old and New Art, aka MONA. And festivals in Tasmania are a fantastic place to experience the state’s smorgasbord of culture. So make sure Tasmania festivals are toward the top of your “Things to Do in Tasmania” list, right there along with seeing the Tasmanian devils.
