African American Festivals

African American culture is a major part of the United States’ identity. It has played an important role in shaping the nation, from its laws to its arts. And black culture needs to be celebrated. This is why there is a profusion of African American festivals throughout the United States. These festivals are brimming with African and African American culture, from food and music, to films and forums. These festivals, such as the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Festival and the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta, teach people about the struggles and triumphs of African Americans. African American Festivals celebrate the progress that has been made, but also serve as a reminder of progress that still needs to be made.
