Dress to Impress
There are two different costume themes unleashed on attendees each day (one for day and one for night). Past themes have included Greek Mythology, Hippies vs Hipsters, and what’s known as “Pajama Jam.” Participating in the different themes is a critical part of the whole Groove Cruise experience. Check the official website for updates on the daily themes before the festival and pack your suitcases accordingly.
Getting There
Groove Cruise Cabo: Fly into San Diego International Airport early to soak in all San Diego has to offer before embarking. Check out the San Diego Zoo, walk along the boardwalk, or get the party started early at the Groove Cruise San Diego Pre-Party. The boat docks at San Diego Cruise Ship Terminal. Many hotels offer shuttle services to the cruise port; any rideshare service is another fantastic option.
Groove Cruise Miami: Fly into Miami International Airport and head to downtown Miami. The cheapest transportation is the Metrorail to the Government Center station, then hop on the Metromover to Freedom Tower station. From there, you will be close to PortMiami, which is where you want to end up before the ship sets sail. You can also use a shuttle, taxi, or other rideshare service to get to your destination. If you head to Florida early, you’ll have time to enjoy the Groove Cruise Miami Pre-Party.
The Important Things
Passport: Whet Travel strongly recommends travelling with a passport. Although it isn’t required, it is useful in the case of emergency. Some states also fall under the REAL ID act which will make their driver’s license non-compliant for travel starting in 2018.
Tickets: Prices vary based on type of stateroom and capacity, and monthly payment plans and 50/50 plans are available. All payments are non-refundable without travel insurance and changes have strict guidelines. Check the official website for more pricing details.
Pack Light
The rooms are small and shared with your favorite people, so we recommend packing light. All you really need to pack for your Groove Cruise excursion is swimwear/beachwear, flip flops, dancing shoes, costumes to fit the different themes, and toiletries. Don’t forget the SPF! Be sure to check the official website for prohibited and acceptable items.
Add It On!
San Diego/Miami Pre-Party: If your toes are twitching with anticipation, attendees can get a head start at the pre-party before boarding the cruise ship.
All-You-Can-Drink Packages: For an additional fee with gratuity, Groove Cruise offers Open Bar packages so you and your roommates can get unlimited alcohol.
Whet Express Pass: For an additional fee, attendees get guaranteed, expedited check-in with first-to-board perks and their room readied upon boarding, as well as priority debarkation and a laminated souvenir lanyard. Another add-on to the Whet Express Pass gets passholders access to the two exclusive, onboard Captain Cocktail Parties (which feature open bars)!
