Getting There
Quiet Valley Ranch is about 70 miles northwest of San Antonio. For those who don’t like long road trips, fly into San Antonio International Airport and drive the rest of the way in a rental car. If you’re in for the long haul, hop on Interstate 10 all the way to TX-16; Quiet Valley Ranch is right off the highway.
Camping and Lodging
Approximately 20 acres are reserved for camping at Quiet Valley Ranch. Besides 90 RV sites (for which there’s a waiting list), there’s plenty of space for tent camping with water, electricity and bathrooms available in the campgrounds. You can also camp at one of two RV campsites outside of the festival: Jellystone or Medina Highpoint. Jellystone is located in Kerrville, while Medina Highpoint is about five miles south of the ranch (and also has cabins for rent). If you’d rather not camp, you can book a hotel in Kerrville, but make sure you do so early if you’re planning on coming during Memorial Day weekend.
Singer-Songwriter Love
The Kerrville Folk Festival operates as a nonprofit with proceeds that support singer-songwriters. The Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation hosts the Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition, an annual Music Camp for Teens, instrument workshops and many other events to foster folk music education and appreciation.
Texas Summer Weather
It may not technically be summer just yet, but expect typical Texas weather for all 18 days of the festival. Bring sunscreen, comfortable shoes, bug spray, a hat, a reusable cup for water and lawn chairs.
