Everfest's Take

From the Organizer

The annual KlezmerQuerque festival is a three-day festival featuring ‘klezmer’ dance and music which is rooted in the traditional wedding rituals of the Jews of Eastern Europe. KlezmerQuerque takes place over Presidents Day Weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico U.S.A. and is co-produced by Congregation Nahalat Shalom, the 22-piece Nahalat Shalom Community Klezmer Band and dance troupe Rikud. The festival presents a wide variety of events for all ages, abilities and budgets including a free children’s event, concerts, dance parties, vegetarian pot luck dinner, lecture-presentations, and “hands-on” workshops in klezmer music and dance. Special guest artists known for their expertise in klezmer music, scholarship and dance are featured at all events throughout the weekend. KlezmerQuerque also features music and dance by several local klezmer bands, dancers and soloists. The festival was produced on Zoom in 2021 because of the pandemic. We hope to be in-person in 2022. Event prices range from free to $25 with all-event early-bird discounts. For tickets and other details visit web site: 505-343-8227 (office) -- or contact event co-ordinator Beth Cohen: (505) 243-6276
