About This Festival

From the Organizer

Known as the hottest festival of music and dance in New England, the Annual Rhythm and Roots Festival serves as the grand finale to a Rhode Island summer. This 3-day, four-stage, all-ages festival takes place over Labor Day Weekend at the expansive Ninigret Park in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Thousands of celebrants converge on Ninigret to camp for the weekend, and transform the park into a festive and colorful impromptu village. Music lovers, families and music lovers also come for a day or stay in nearby lodging to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy dozens of performers running tandem across multiple stages. World-class musicians perform roots music on several stages, offer workshops, and bring vibrant energy to the crowds on the dance floors. Entry to the festival always includes free family activities such as crafts, professional storytellers and performers, Mardi Gras-themed parades and the popular Kid's Cajun Music Camp. Artisan crafts, clothing, ethnic foods, beer, wine, ice cream, gifts and more for sale.
