Don’t miss the boat at Seattle’s largest maritime industry celebration! Presented by the Seattle Propeller Club and Port of Seattle, the Festival showcases our thriving workboat, shipping and fishing industries. RSVP Info TBD Family Fun Day Saturday, May 11 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Seattle Maritime Academy 4455 Shilshole Ave NW – just east of the Ballard Bridge Want to pilot a tugboat or a ferry boat? Try your hand at welding? Mend a fishing net? Fire an emergency flare? Or be in a Survival Suit Race? Those are part of nearly 30 free hands-on activities planned today at the Harley Marine Seattle Maritime Festival Family Fun Day at the Seattle Maritime Academy in Ballard. The Family Fun Day features three free Argosy tours of the ship canal, a wide variety of Experience Maritime activities, displays and food trucks. The Experience Maritime activities offer tons of cool hands-on programs including kids boat building, welding, oceanography, emergency signals/flares, Coast Guard damage control trailer, emergency environmental response, life raft and boat tours, line tossing, fishing net mending, survival suit races and other family activities. A crowd-pleasing highlight will be the chance for the public to pilot a tugboat at the Academy’s bridge simulator. There is no admission fee to Family Fun Day.
