Come in Costume
The best thing about a Halloween festival is getting to go all out on a costume. It’s not just welcomed, it’s encouraged! Just make sure to follow the festival's guidelines to make sure your costume can make it through the gate.
Getting There
Fly into Houston via either George Bush Intercontinental Airport or William Hobby Airport and take a cab or public transportation. If you’re close enough to drive, a road trip through Texas isn’t a bad idea either.
Where to Stay
Sam Houston Race Park is in northwest Houston, which means you get to avoid downtown traffic and downtown hotel prices. Best Western Plus and Comfort Suites are the closest to the actual festival grounds at about 20 minutes of walking, which could save you money on parking or using a rideshare. There is no camping on the grounds, so be sure to make arrangements ahead of time.
Download the App
During the festival, it’s handy to download the Something Wicked app. You can see a map of the fest, the schedule, and receive alerts from the festival organizers. The app is free and available for iOS and Android.
Prepare for the Weather
Houston weather can be almost unpredictable, especially in the fall. Make sure to pack a jacket just in case, because while it might still be summer weather in the early afternoon. By nightfall it will most likely get cold.
Keep the Party Going
Something Wicked closes its gates at midnight, so be prepared to find an after party if that’s an early closing time for you.
