Arrive early
Show up around noon and enjoy a couple hours without any lines for attractions and activities, especially for the Ferris Wheel. Not to mention the early bands on the rise.
Selfies at sunset
As the sun sets in the west beyond the Golden Gate Bridge, festival-goers can be seen lining up along the southern edge of Treasure Island to snap a selfie with the iconic San Francisco skyline as the backdrop.
Dress for summer and fall
While temps can climb into the 70s in October, they also drop quickly as daylight fades. Plus, you’re in the middle of the bay. Bring extra layers to enjoy the nighttime performances.
Getting There
While this is primarily attended by locals, out of towners can arrive via air into either San Francisco International Airport (SFO) or Oakland International Airport (OAK) and either cab it or take public transportation (BART) to your accommodations.
Shuttles From The City
Free and efficient festival shuttles pick up and drop off at the Bill Graham Auditorium near the Civic Center in downtown San Francisco, a block from the Civic Center Muni and BART station. We don’t recommend driving as there is limited parking, and you could find yourself snarled in weekend traffic.
