Getting There
The AFS Cinema is north of downtown Austin right along Interstate 35. If you’re coming from out of town and don’t want to drive, book a flight to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and call a ride share to get to the theater. Feel free to rent a car, but be prepared to battle Austin’s crazy traffic.
Lodging
The organizers recommend you book a room at The Highlander Hotel. You can get a special discounted rate for a room, and the hotel is a stone’s throw away from the theater on Middle Fiskville Road. It’s an easy walk and conveniently located near great restaurants and other fun things to do. If you want to stay elsewhere, there are lots of affordable lodging options in north Austin, some of which are super closer to the venue.

“Exit, Voice, and Loyalty”
This is the title of an 1970 essay by Albert O. Hirschman, an influential economist and prolific author, of which Voice & Exit is inspired by. The concept is that to influence positive change, we as a society have three options: 1) We can voice our opinions to try and persuade others to change; 2) We can remain loyal even if we disagree with a given group; 3) Or we can exit that group and bound outward into the beautiful unknown to create anew. The Voice & Exit conference is essentially the third option in a nutshell.
