Most known for it’s massive peak of Everest, Nepal is a storied nation with a unique culture that could only develop in one of the world’s most extreme environments. Though the weather can be harsh, the people are kind. They often lead simple lives and care more about their family and community over material goods. They even have a festival for one of their key family members–the dog. The Tihar festival is a floofy-woofy adorable mix of flower-donned pups and a sleuth of dog treats. If you’re a cat person, you can skip Tihar and celebrate Dashain, Nepal’s longest and biggest festival. It’s a beautiful celebration that brings Buddhists and Hindus together in a 15 day long celebration.
