When Alice went down the rabbit hole, things happened that she couldn't have imagined in her wildest dreams. Her experience was filled with the new, the unique and the unexpected – that's exactly what you'll get when you see these artists dominate on Day 1 at Beyond Wonderland in Southern California. They'll serve up an array of eclectic sounds and beats that will make you move in ways you've never moved before– so ditch that main stage and experience something other than the overplayed electronic tracks on your first day of this epic festival.

Astrix

Astrix makes techno thoroughly modern by whisking instrumentals together with classic trance rhythms and melodic vocals. When you think you have your groove down to every beat, Astrix will take you to the next level – so don't be surprised if your jive gets suddenly transformed into a fast, psychedelic trance. His track "Beyond the Senses" is all-inclusive and sums up how you should experience this festival. Listen, experience, and repeat here.

A perfect combination of upbeat rhythms, full-bodied bass and hypnotic vocals, Kidnap Kid's music is seductive and inspires movement for days on end. "Like You Used To" is quite nostalgic, and when you hear it you'll understand. Explore more of his music here.

Jonnie King is the king of storytelling. He succeeds in layering and mixing different sounds and elements with various beats to create a throng of emotions and themes. While his music isn't for ragers, it does welcome those searching for an intimate musical experience. It's unclear what kind of story Jonnie King will tell at Beyond Wonderland, but we can assume it's going to be one-of-a-kind, personal and ethereal. Listen to more of his stories here.

Kim Ann Foxman

Kim Ann Foxman's music is weird, but in a good way – its disco cadences keep you moving in mysterious ways. Synth pop marries with serene vocals; house beats thump with repetitive lyrics. Foxman's music is for low-key dancing but with all the hype you would normally get from a big-room stage. So if you're looking to groove (like really groove!) check out Kim here and at Beyond Wonderland.

Mary Jane Coles

Maya Jane Coles is an artist of many skills and musical interests. She doesn't conform to one subgenre of electronic music; rather she dabbles here and there to execute refreshing takes on popular tunes like Little Dragon's "Ritual Union" and Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down." There's a bit of airiness in her music, coupled with spacey vibes and intricate beats. There won't be a song where you don't go "Ooohhh, that's pretty cool." Maya Jane Coles knows how to entertain and intrigue, so Beyond Wonderland attendees are in for a delicious, exciting treat. Hear more of her songs here.
