At Burning Man everything is art, from the obvious looming sculptures, to the costumes and daily interactions, even the personal meltdowns. And each work of art has its own very distinct personality. If something seemed out of place, perhaps you just didn't understand its intrinsic thing-ness. That annoyingly loud, in-your-face Sound Camp blasting "I'm a DJ, I'm a fucking DJ!" was really just doing boorishness to perfection. In that spirit, here are seven Art Cars who discovered exactly who they were.

1. Couch Train

Members of the Pier Group who brought the Spanish Galleon in 2012 threw this little number together in their off year. A fitting project for a lead artist named "Janky." A little tractor lazily pulled a dusty train of couches and a hammock. Couch Train is the definition of lounging.

2. The Strip Ship & Bass Station

The Dancetronauts were loud this year, certainly the loudest thing on the Playa, maybe the loudest thing in the world. As usual they had gorgeous "Dancetrohottie" dancers, wore flashy white flight suits, and flaunted a tricked out spaceship. This year they took on the civic duty of hosting the annual White Party. The Strip Ship was simply too big to fail.

3. The Piñata Art Car

A 30-foot tall donkey piñata. Every picture you see of it looks like it was left somewhere by accident. In 2013, the Piñata Art Car achieved a sublime level of silliness.

4. El Pulpo Mecanico

A brilliantly crafted, steampunk octopus that breathed fire. Even those who had seen him in previous years gathered around in awe, "El Pulpo! El Pulpo! Behold him and tremble!" With a circumference of tentacles and bulging eyes, it didn't matter what direction you saw him from, El Pulpo was ready to perform for his true believers. Heck, even his Facebook page is called "The Church of El Pulpo Mecanico." This year, El Pulpo Mecanico was the ultimate showoff in a land of showoffs.

5. The Shark Car

Sliding along the playa, day or night, the Shark Car was always about to eat somebody. Here he is about to swallow that saucer and end the whole damn event! The Shark Car truly brought to life SNL's famous landshark.

6. Charlie the Unicorn

7. The Bleachers: "Where Participants are Spectators"

You had a front row seat as The Bleachers rolled around the Playa observing and applauding the citizens of Black Rock City. An announcer pointed out various antics and you gave an ovation. When a spectacle was deemed particularly spectacular, The Bleachers gave out a trophy. The Bleachers provided ideal interaction this year.

Honorable mention:

This furry little bathtub. You totally got it.
