Over the weekend of May 23-25, thousand of techno lovers from across the world will make their annual pilgrimage to Detroit, Michigan for the marathon that is Movement , where synths, drums and snares will fill the air. As always, the fest's 15th year lineup includes some of the most innovative and legendary names in the house and techno community (like legend Richie Hawtin) as well as diverse editions, like hip-hop mogul Snoop Dogg, experimental acts like Dog Blood (Skrillex and Boys Noize) and the contemporary sounds of Disclosure. Of course, after Hart plaza closes its doors, the parties continue. We've compiled an afterparty primer that'll take your festival experience to the next level. Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

You can’t experience the true spirit of Detroit without seeing the pioneers of techno and house music in action. 3 Chairs, composed by the enigmatic Kenny Dixon Jr. (aka Moodymann ), music historian Theo Parrish, and groove connoisseur Ricky Wilhite. Waves and waves of DJs have come and gone, but these men refuse to compromise their original, innovative productions. Kick off this weekend-long celebration by checking out this rare performance of deep grooves.

Even after all these years, Stacey Pullen remains fresh and continues to push boundaries by crafting and contrasting genres like jazz and soul with synths and drum machines, creating a signature style in the process that has earned him the keys to Detroit. This official opening party featuring other founding fathers of techno promises to showcase music that has created styles of electronic music that continues to influence veterans and new generations alike. You'll get schooled by Pullen’s enigmatic sound, DBX’s signature minimal house, and John Acquaviva’s club classics.

Soul Clap, the extra-terrestrial ambassadors of funk (hello, George Clinton!) – in partnership with Red Bull Music Academy – are curating what promises to be the grooviest afterparty of the weekend. When you have electro-funk '80s hit makers like Soul Clap performing live and other funk veterans like Terrence Parker and Stacey Pullen you know you are in for a real musical treat. Other vibe masters on the lineup include Justin Martin, Pillow Talk and Tanner Ross, so bring your dancing shoes and get ready to get down – this party is a whopping 12 hours. It's also sold out, so it's on you if you attempt to crash it!

When people talk about Detroit’s music scene, it can't be done without mentioning the father of techno, Juan Atkins. Revered both by casual fans and industry mavens, this man has consistently produced tracks for the past 20 years that immaculately mix soul and African rhythms with a signature futuristic bent. With that signature sound, he's known to rock dance floors with the same passion and energy that made his early days so groundbreaking. He will play alongside Kai Alice and Stefan Ringer.

Paradigm, Visionquest and No.19 will join forces on this night to bring the créme de la créme of talent from each respective label and pack City Club to the rafters. Visionquest is set to dazzle with its expansive roster of techno and house luminaries, and will even feature very special guest Lee Foss. As if a homecoming reunion for these heavyweights isn't enough, Shaun Reeves and Nitin (both of No. 19) will fill the room with tasteful house cuts. Kenny Glasgow (of the recently dissolved Art Department) tops off this stellar lineup. Get your tickets before they sell out completely.

Carl Craig is a born and bred icon of Detroit and he continues to be one of the strongest creative forces of the city. He is not only prolific – made apparent by his unbelievable 20-year career – he has also harnessed his star power to help build foundations in his hometown which support Detroit’s youth by donating all tickets sales to the Detroit Institute of Arts. This beat master, known for his melodic house with notes of soul and jazz, he returns to MotorCity Wine for the 5th straight year with a very special guest (to be announced the Saturday before). If you are craving a taste of Detroit's finest and a party for a good cause, get in line.

Damian Lazarus is the definition of a contemporary music shaman, and over the last decade he has congregated a tribe of some of the most talented music makers in the world on his label, Crosstown Rebels. For this Monday night party, Lazarus and his entourage will delight Detroit with a promising cast of music curators that includes Francesca Lombardo, Thugfucker and Mathew Jonson. Because Lazarus has been on an explosive creative roll lately with cosmic projects such as The Ancient Moons, it's obvious we are in for a surprise.

Attention! This party is only for true weekend warriors who are hellbent on experiencing one of the most special parties of the festival. The usage of "Miami" here is actually an acronym that means “Missing in Action Michigan,” which is fitting; those who have been to this veteran’s club and underground music sanctuary know that the ones missing in action are those who are not there. The lines will be long but if you manage to get in you will catch comrades Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss, Ryan Crosson and Shaun Reeves do what do they best: make the masses dance.
