A Visual Gift - After The Burn

My friend Sidney Erthal was born in Brazil and came to the U.S. a decade ago to improve his English. One day, fate welcomed him with a chance meeting of a new friend in Sausalito. This friend gave him a camera and, next thing, Sidney had found his calling. Sidney is one of the most prolific and respected photographers at Burning Man. We had dinner last Friday night and he shared a few of his favorite photos from this year with me (the captions are my thoughts).

We know the pulpit can be a habitat for fire and brimstone, but the “Church Trap” took the fire part seriously. I think my Playa name next year will be “Brimstone.”
Beam me up, Scotty!

Home, sweet (dusty) home.

“Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you…”

“Yes, I am the Man. And, these are my back-up singers, The Sparklers.”

Why was the man burned? Because he was knotty!
Look, there’s a huge burning man emerging from Photo Chapel.

OK, you damned aliens. Will you please land before sunrise…my high is wearing off and I need some serious shuteye.

This damned flying saucer ain’t going nowhere!
That pyramid scheme went up in smoke.

Even deities have a powerful third eye.

ET, phone home. We have a fire.

A week at Burning Man can mess with your belief system. And “Truth and Beauty” will emerge as a result.
