In the twelve years since Brooklyn-based AFROPUNK FEST launched (as an extension of its eponymous magazine) the festival has expanded to successful events in Paris, London and Atlanta. Now, AFROPUNK has announced that Johannesburg, South Africa, will join the mix in December 2017.

Billed as "... the other Black experience," AFROPUNK – "Afro : as in, born of African spirit and heritage; see also black (not always), see also rhythm and color, see also other, see also underdog" and Punk : as in, rebel, opposing the simple route, imbued with a DIY ethic, looking forward with simplicity, rawness and open curiosity; see also other, see also underdog" – celebrates black music, culture and art in its online magazine as well as its global festival outposts.

No news on the lineup just yet, but if it's anything like July's Paris edition (featuring Tyler the Creator, FFF, Big Freedia, Petit Noir, Faada Freddy, HO9909 and more), it'll be a successful yet unique foray into Africa's growing music festival scene.
