Can you believe it's been 47 years?! Even after all these years, Seattle's music- and arts-laden Bumbershoot still dominates the Pacific Northwest's festival scene. It's for good reason; the event consistently brings huge names to Seattle Center grounds, both in the realms of music and comedy, to a region that's surprisingly light on similarly large-scale fests.

Headlining the 2017 event are Flume,  Lorde, and ODESZA, not to be outdone by fellow festival mainstays Big Sean, Dillon Francis, Weezer, Die Antwoord, Haim, Solange, and The Roots. It's a glorious mish-mash of genres.

Heading up the comedy roster are Margaret Cho, Todd Barry, Judah Friedlander, Guy Branum, and Jermaine Fowler. Beyond the comedy and music, there is plenty to do and see across the grounds of the Seattle Center, from a Seattle music panel featuring iconic labels and venue owners from the city, a poetry slam, a short film fest, yoga, a Subpop pop-up shop, trippy lights in the laser dome, and tons of local eats.

Thousands of people from across the country flock to Seattle each year to attend this cultural touchstone in the Pacific Northwest, which has become one of the biggest and most-loved contemporary festivals in North America, while having maintained its Northwest spirit and innovative roots. The name Bumbershoot (it's a slang term for umbrella) was chosen both as a knowing nod of respect to Seattles's most famous weather pattern, and a symbol of the overarching mission of this festival: to be an umbrella for all of the arts.

Bumbershoot takes place Labor Day weekend, September 1-3, 2017. Grab tickets here.
