Whether or not you're among the ranks of ardent David Lynch fans, you're probably familiar with the enigmatic director and his experimental body of work. Spanning music videos to television (his most famous show, Twin Peaks, has a festival of its own) to films like Mulholland Drive, Lynch has held court as Hollywood's most bizarre auteur for decades. Now, the festival format is getting the David Lynch treatment with his inaugural Festival of Disruption, to be held October 8-9, 2016 at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, California. 

Live performances will come from Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters, St. Vincent, Rhye, Jon Hopkins and Questlove. Angelo Badalamenti, Xiu Xiu, Sky Ferreira, Chrysta Bell, Rebekah Del Rio, and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith will perform music from Twin Peaks. In regards to speakers, the lineup boasts legendary director Mel Brooks, musician Debbie Harry, actor John Malkovich, and architect Frank Gehry. Twin Peaks actor Kyle Maclachlan will be on hand, as will Lynchian linchpin Laura Dern. Also joining is photographer Chris Stein & DJ Jason Bentley (music director of LA public radio station KCRW). For the filmophiles in attendance (which, duh) there will be screenings of The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet Revisited, and rare David Lynch shorts. Additional exhibits include the Photography of David Lynch, the Photography of Chris Stein, and an entire virtual reality theater. Are you salivating yet?

Attendees will be festing for a cause –  all of the proceeds from the festival will go to Lynch's charity, The David Lynch Foundation, which works to "bring healing and empowerment to people who suffer the nightmare of trauma and toxic stress," specifically via Transcendental Meditation. Lynch, who's kept the practice since 1973, is an outspoken advocate for the use of meditation as essential to an emotionally healthy, creative life.
