While the 105 degree heat would halt many fest-goers right in their dancing tracks, there was no stopping those in San Marcos, Texas this past weekend. As most Texas natives know, any summer day outside is best spent by a body of water, and Float Fest stands out by using their unique location on the San Marcos River to bring attendees the best of both worlds. With the end of Float Fest’s span of the river located directly on the festival grounds, some use the three hour float to kick-off their weekend, drinking and blasting tunes all the way down the river straight into the festival. Others bask in the sun on their tubes come Sunday morning, taking the time to relax and recuperate from Saturday’s festivities before spending the rest of day frolicking in the extreme heat.

While only in its fourth year, Float Fest was able to secure top-notch talent in a variety of different genres. Saturday’s line-up seemed to be curated with the EDM community in mind, featuring high-energy sets by Girl Talk, Passion Pit and Zedd. Sunday’s more laid back line-up was perfect for setting up a picnic blanket and chilling out while enjoying stand out performances by Sweet Spirit, Moon Taxi, and Weezer.

Float Fest attracted families and festies alike to partake in two days of feel good vibes. Both during and between sets, attendees could get an incredible bird's-eye view of the festival via helicopter or enjoy one of the many fair rides, like the ferris wheel and swings, giving Float Fest the vibe similar to that of a hometown carnival. Attendees who danced up an appetite were rewarded with a wide variety of food trucks serving up everything from pizza to Korean barbecue to a truck entirely dedicated to spouting out different flavors from a local root beer company.

Float Fest captures the essence of summer in Texas, complete with good food, great tunes, and a cool trip down the river.
