Over the last five years, it seems like boutique festivals have set up homes on any spare ground they can find – and it's certainly given birth to an exciting scene. Like other rising stars in that boutique world – think Desert Hearts and FORM Arcosanti – this past May, Further Future joined the mix and unveiled an experimental desert festival that's a worthy addition to the thriving scene.

With a creation story that includes a birth at Burning Man and a growing reputation on the scene in New York, Further Future burst to life in 2013 via Robot Heart and had a solid inaugural outing of their own in the other Nevada desert. This ethereal, just-released afterstory brings us back to the Mojave Desert just outside of Las Vegas, NV. Set to Desert Colony's currently unreleased track "Cracks in My Soul," a hazy patina of dust coats the video's aesthetic, which takes us on a sunset-laden trip through the festival via aerial footage and a dancefloor POV.

The festival's goal was to take a thoughtful look at what we're capable of through the exploration of themes in science and innovative thinking. An impressive roster of who's-who Silicon Valley brass, like Tony Hsieh of Zappos and SoundCloud CEO/Founder, Alex Ljung, spoke about entrepreneurialism, the future of music distribution, and other topics for the intellectually curious. And when the learning sessions ended, the musical stylings of Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons, Bob Moses, Com Truise, Thugfucker, Warpaint, Miguel Migs & Lisa Shaw, Henry Saiz (Live Band), John Tejada, Nosaj Thing and much more took over.

Further Future 002 will be back in the desert in Spring 2016.
