Red Lightning , a 501c3 registered Burning Man community, arrived at Standing Rock in the main camp, Oceti Sakowin (7 Council Fires), from October 2016 until February 2017 with domes for community gatherings, and solar and wind power. The Standing Rock experience left many in the organization and beyond asking: Who are we and what are we going to do in the time of prophecy? How can we listen deeper, and actually hear what is being communicated? Standing Rock was the first attempt to unite all the indigenous tribes to motivate around environmental protection and regeneration. Now, First Nations Standing Rock leaders are traveling to Burning Man so that the Medicine Wheel prophecy can be fulfilled. The prophecy states that if all the peoples of the world unite and share their wisdom and history, we will be able to create a healthy and just future for all.

As a vital next step in our movement for a regenerative future, The Power of Prayer brings the Standing Rock spirit to Black Rock City to be on the front line of cultural and social change. Burning Man is a global movement to revitalize society through self-expression, ritual, workshops, and art with all attendees fully participating. Red Lightning is providing a platform for the Burning Man community to reach out to the world in solidarity. Join us and participate online and in person for our international drum circle on August 29, 2017 at 6:30 pm PST. It will be broadcast worldwide here.

The leaders will head the world’s largest, synchronized drumming prayer circle, amplified by the playa's most powerful sound system, Mayan Warrior. The leaders, also known as wisdom keepers, will engage with and teach the Burning Man community during the week. They will meet with influencers in technology and finance so together they can guide our future. Their experiences and teaching will be filmed to form a documentary by the Red Lightning community to continue the spread of their wisdom after Burning Man.

For us, prayer is not what many think of as speaking to a “God.” It’s a meditative tool to help us remember our interdependence with all living creatures on Earth and our unified human experience. We are not affiliated with any organized religion. We will bring together people of all races, creeds, religions, and belief systems under the Medicine Wheel for this event. This historic movement will give us clarity on the necessity of protecting natural habitats around the globe for future generations together. We will pray for deep listening, for peace, for unity, and for love.

The sacredness of drums exists universally in human culture. Drum rhythms beat to the pulse of our heart and the cycles of nature everywhere, from ancient peoples to modern. This movement seeks to unify a global community under the primordial sound and motivating sound of drums.

As one Grandmother Patricia Richards explained about her trip to Black Rock: “I am a servant to the planet. Spirit is guiding me to go to Burning Man so spirit can give a message. Prayer is the black, the red, the yellow, and the white coming together as one. To protect Mother Earth and to protect the waters. We are praying for the next seven generations to be taken care of.”
