One of Europe's largest open-air electronic music festivals — and one that always sells out — Balaton Sound draws tens of thousands to the shore of Hungary's Lake Balaton. Balaton Sound, which was founded in 2007, is distinguished by its twenty-four hour music programming on a dizzying complex of stages. And it offers a wide variety of nearby camping options — a days-long getaway with ample facilities to accommodate fest life both rugged and luxurious alike. Plus, the lineups are incredible.

2018's roster of performers is no exception. The festival, which is a sister event to Sziget, just announced the first wave of artists playing next year on the lake, and it's already stacked with some of the biggest names in the game, like The Chainsmokers, David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Ty Dolla $ign, Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, and more.

Its been a big year for these superstars; Dutch youngster Martin Garrix claimed DJ Mag’s Number #1 DJ in the World title for the second year running in 2017, and DJ Snake is enjoying monumental success worldwide, from headlining Ultra Music Festival in Miami, to performing a very special set on top of the Arc De Triomphe in Paris. Los Angeles, California-based Ty Dolla $ign just released a critically lauded new album entitled Beach House 3 – and the hype is only sure to grow for the rest of the artists as Balaton Sound's summer event grows nearer.

There are several stages, including a main stage area that accommodates as many as 50,000 spectators. Thrillingly, the music goes nonstop, and yet festival grounds are expansive enough for people to easily slip away and take breaks from dancing. Mellow and frenzied, in other words, collide. Aside from the beautiful Lake Balaton, here are chill zones galore, full of hammocks, bean bags, and easy chairs — all practically within arm's reach of ample refreshments and food from kindly local vendors. It may be winter in the Northern Hemisphere, but it's time to start picking out your festie swimsuits and getting ready to dance again!

Balaton Sound runs from July 4-8, 2018. Tickets go on sale on December 9.
