Lightning in a Bottle, in our book, is always the crown jewel of Memorial Day Weekend festivals. Whether it's music, adventure, or soul searching you seek in a festival experience, LIB has it. And sometimes it's just a fun challenge to see how much you can pack into one long weekend.
This year, festies got down to a female-heavy lineup this year, which included Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Zhu, Black Madonna, GRiZ, The Glitch Mob, tUnE-yArDs, Monolink, TOKiMONSTA, Nicole Moudaber, Emancipator, Clozee, sunrise master Random Rab, the elusive Tipper, Rodriguez Jr. live, Dirtybird's Walker & Royce, and many more. Festies were treated to robust learning and culture programming, featuring talks & discussions surrounding of-the-moment topics like activism, reclaiming the media, and the future of money, plus plenty of hands-on education in the Learning Kitchen. In between sessions and sets, surprises await around every corner: Sit-down dinners, a wacky soapbox derby, art installations to climb, art cars, a beauty salon, karaoke, and countless other wonderful and weird experiences. This year, there was a new roller skating rink, a huge fire and flow arts area, The Sideways Room (an installation made to look like a living room gone sideways, The Unicorn Palace (a late-night space with variety shows), a fully immersive and interactive, multi-dimensional psychedelic jellyfish field, and even a brand-new Woogie Stage design.
Below, check out scenes from the festival, and its attendees reveling in LIB's – and each other's – glory throughout the weekend in Bradley, California. Next Memorial Day Weekend can't come soon enough!
