If you think America is full of rabid pizza lovers, remember that Italy – where pizza was born – takes our level of reverence and ups the ante tenfold. Nowhere is that more evident than during Napoli Pizza Village, the world's largest pizza festival, which takes place in pizza's birthplace of Naples, Italy, and attracts upwards of 1 million people to its festivities each June.
Now in its eighth year, Naples Pizza Village is an epic celebration of all things pizza – though you won't find any style resembling deep dish, New York-style, or other regional Italian takes on the doughy, cheesy creation. It's all pizza napoletana, all the time. The festival itself – which took place June 1-10, 2018 – consists of a village of 30,000 square meters boasting the world's 50 most famous Neapolitan pizzerias (this alone already has us itching to buy tickets), the NPV Kids area with entertainment and educational workshops, the NPV Pizza Class area where Maestri pizzaioli teach scores of audience members all the secrets of creating a perfect Neapolitan pizza, the NPV D'Essai area where pizza makers of international fame present pizzas marking new trends. The program is enriched by conferences and seminars but, above all, great, live musical performances by national and international artists every evening to attendees stuffed full of world-class 'za.
