Rumblings first bubbled to the surface of the interwebs back in September when Coachella promoter AEG and Goldenvoice first entered talks to bring its behemoth summer festival brand to New York. Today, it's official. The East Coast's newest large-scale festival, called Panorama, will hit Randall's Park this summer, making the East Coast's existing festival scene – which already includes the likes of Governors Ball and Afropunk – even more exciting.

Back in Fall 2015 when the idea was first floated, Coachella's promoters became embroiled in a lawsuit with New York's resident biggie Governors Ball when GovBall protested AEG's initial plans to stage its new fest just two weeks after GovBall's event. According to Hypebeast,  Tom Russell, a major Governor’s Ball organizer, stated: “The timing of this corporate-run festival would threaten our ability as a small business to continue putting on the kind of event that has showcased the best artists, created hundreds of local jobs and put millions of dollars back into the city’s economy.” That spat has now been resolved, as Panorama will now go down seven weeks after the independently run Governors Ball captures audiences with its fresh 2016 lineup .

No lineup has been announced yet, but it is currently being billed “Three days of music, art, technology, and local food offerings”  – a melange of attractions AEG is a seasoned veteran at producing.

And really, who needs a desert? Steamy summers in New York, which will now be punctuated with its own Coachella-meets-East-Coat take on over-the-top festival style and a sure-to-match lineup of performers, might prove to be just as destination worthy.
