With ample room to spread out and gorgeous backdrops to boot, deserts always make for a perfect festival location. And in a place with an abundance of desert land, it makes sense that South Africans flock to Oppikoppi  every year in droves. Since 1995, Oppikoppi (which means "land on the hill") has grown to occupy the place atop the hill as South Africa's most popular music festival, and we can see why. The vibe is chill, attendees look both relaxed and excited to be there, and there are lots of wacky things to do.

This aftermovie takes us beyond those typical views of the stage and scenes of partying. Instead, we're given a first-person perspective of the Oppi experience, including the entrance line, a peek into the camping grounds where people lounge about, and through a twisted maze of fist pumps from costumed festival-goers. We see uniquely African art cars (no doubt attendees of that other festival in the South African desert, AfrikaBurn ) and of course, there's also a brief glimpse of the Nude Olympics (fast forward to 1:40 for that bit).

With a cheeky sense of humor, this funky fest can claim "7 fixed stages (and a few roving pieces of craziness), roughly 150 sets of music and entertainment, 20,000 rabid fans... and we have drones delivering our beers)." Time to plan that trip to South African you've been talking about...
