Arguably one of the premiere music events in New York, Electric Zoo is quickly becoming a festival favorite in the greater US. You can always count on EZoo for amazing production value and a star-studded lineup that will blow you away.

The Vibe

Electric Zoo is one of the most talked about and most hotly anticipated dance music festivals in the Northeastern US. This Labor Day Weekend, EDM fans will let loose at Randall’s Island Park for the annual three day festival. New Yorkers and dance fans from far and wide gather to celebrate the end of summer and their love of music.

The festival has seen a great deal of expansion since its innaugural year in 2009. Last year, EZoo upped the ante with two main stages of an impressive size complete with plenty of LED screens and lasers. The 2014 edition of the festival will undoubtedly top the previous year yet again...and we can't wait to see how they do it.

The crowd is a diverse mix of everyone from NYC fashionistas blogging about their chic festival attire to curious New Yorkers who bought a ticket on a whim to see what all the buzz is about. Of course, you can expect the festival to be mostly packed with true dance fans in full rave attire. Many festival goers choose to follow the “Zoo” theme, dressing up as different party animals.

The Location

Randall’s Island Park is one of the best venues in the Northeast for major festivals. The island sits amidst the East River, with breathtaking views of the New York City skyline in the background. An island between Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx, the park is truly a place for the EZoo animals to let wild.

Even the journey to the venue is its own experience. You can catch a ferry to the island where you’ll get 360-degree views of NYC has to offer. Or walk over the Ward's Island Bridge in the company of hundreds of festivalgoers and get a bird's eye view of the festival. It’s a party in itself!

The island is decked out in keeping with the zoo theme...and the electric theme. Animal statues are scattered throughout the grounds and colorfully lit trees decorated with dangling ornaments. Many people use this shady area to meet up with friends or rest in between sets.

The Main Stage East and West are the most elaborately designed stages, but the smaller stages offer unique production value with creatively designed LED screens, unlike anything you’ve seen before.

The Lineup

EZoo is always guaranteed to have an amazing lineup with top DJs from around the world. Unlike other festivals, they secure major headliners months in advance, causing tickets to get snatched up early. The two massive main stages make it easier for headliners to be the star of the show, however like most festivals, conflicting set times are inevitable.

This year the main stages will be graced by the likes of Dada Life, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta, Nicky Romero, Zedd, Knife Party, Laidback Luke, Kaskade, Benny Benassi, Fedde le Grand, Bingo Players, Showtek, and Alesso.

Trance fans will be more than happy with the incredible lineup of Armin van Buuren, Dash Berlin, W&W, Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, BT, ATB, and Myon & Shane 54.

Trap and dubstep fans will get their daily dose of bass with Carnage, Zeds Dead, Candyland, Brillz, Zomboy, Destroid, Datsik, Kill The Noise, Pegboard Nerds, Seven Lions, Heroes x Villains, DVBBS, and Sub Focus, just to name a few.

Finally, festival goers that prefer the deeper styles of dance will be overjoyed to catch sets from Fehrplay, Jeremy Olander, Oliver Heldens, Sasha, Danny Tenaglia, Pete Tong, Henry Fong, Hot Since 82, Kidnap Kid, Moon Boots, and The Magician at the Sunday School Grove and Vinyl Only stages.

One of the most highly anticipated sets of the entire festival is Skrillex and Diplo’s super group Jack U, whose mind-blowing Ultra set put them on the map for the 2014 festival season. The duo are hard to catch on tour, and EZoo is lucky to have them!

Stay tuned for more Fest300 coverage of Electric Zoo in the coming weeks!
