For 20+ years, Pitchfork has been among the most trusted voices when it comes to unearthing current talent and tomorrow's music legends. And for 12 years, its very own Pitchfork Music Festival, set in the heart of Chicago, has been the place to catch the most buzzed-about names in the biz in a live setting.

The festival's lineup announcement is hotly anticipated each year by both festival-goers and music aficionados alike, and this year's initial roster does not disappoint. Sure, it's just a teaser for the avalanche of good music to come, but we'll take it. LCD Soundsystem (headlining Friday), Solange (headlining Sunday), and A Tribe Called Quest (headlining Sunday – fresh off their fiery and fantastic Grammys performance – make out the biggest names as of now, and there will be many more to come.

The festival has also announced a special collaboration with Saint Heron, the innovative label and arts platform founded by Solange Knowles. The Saint Heron-curated event series will feature an onsite art installation, film screening, artist talks, late night jazz jam sessions, and more. These will take place from Thursday, July 13 through Sunday, July 16 at various locations throughout Chicago.

Many things about Pitchfork remain unchanged since its first appearance in summer 2006. Pitchfork Media has worked with the same music production company, Mike Reed’s At Pluto, and has been held in July at Union Park in Chicago. To this day, one of Pitchfork’s calling cards has been its affordability, which it makes it approachable and a great bargain for attendees in comparison with some other large-scale music festivals. This year, however, the festival has introduced Pitchfork +PLUS, a VIP-esque option for anyone with cash to spare looking for additional amenities. It’s also known to keep the music going until the wee hours by staging a few after parties/after shows at surrounding clubs after the festival wraps up, typically incorporating some of the acts from the festival along with DJs.
