Great selfies at festivals just got way more difficult to achieve! Rollingstone.com reports today that Coachella and Lollapalooza organizers have decided to ban festival-goers from bringing selfie sticks – that already revered and reviled 21st century invention – onto festival grounds.

Lollapalooza's site lists prohibited items, which is where you'll see the fest state that they've outlawed "GoPro attachments like sticks, selfie sticks & monopods." Coachella similarly frowns upon "selfie sticks / Narsisstics [sic]." Still no word yet on the selfie stick stance on other major festivals coming this summer, like Bonnaroo, Governor's Ball and Sasquatch.

Beyond being just a rather self-absorbed activity in general, selfie stick use has increasingly become a thorn in fest organizers' sides for their frequent use in the unlawful recording of performances. Rollingstone.com reports that fest organizers concede that the ban will be hard to enforce because selfie sticks can often be used as festival totems, decked out in unique ways, to help people find each other in large crowds.

Brutal or totally warranted? No matter how you feel, it looks like we'll all just have to grow longer arms to get those coveted Coachella and Lolla selfies this year.
