Great aftermovies capture those magical festival moments that feel like they could only exist in dreams, and cure every attendee's post-festival depression by transporting them back to their fest experience. From excellent editing to creative storytelling, these 2015 aftermovies truly exemplify the beauty of festival culture, the venues and host cities, and the music and art that brings tens of thousands of people together. Enjoy them below in no particular order.

Tomorrowland, Belgium

Tomorrowland’s mini-documentary (it's 20 minutes!) excels at telling a story, and captures magic with scenic views, FOMO-inducing crowd shots, and showcases the whimsical attractions and activities for which the festival is so well known. Its production quality and content direction is practically on par with that of a full-scale film, and you feel positively swept away in its epic feel. Fist pumps matching the music's down-beats and slow motion effects syncing with ritenutos only amplifies it all.

Boomtown Fair, UK

It’s without a doubt that BoomTown Fair itself is one of the best storytellers in the festival game (take a look at its YouTube channel for proof) so, naturally, the UK fest excels at aftermovies that do the same. Here, scripted performances (echoing the actors throughout its festival grounds) couple with candid exuberance, adding drama and suspense that showcases the festival’s wicked spirit and choose-your-own-adventure vibe.

Pukkelpop, Belgium

There’s no other festival aftermovie quite like Pukkelpop’s. A collection of short, looping videos (GIFs) featuring festival eccentricities and happenings translates into an intriguing aftermovie with a modern momentum that makes it easy for viewers to watch from start to finish.

Bass Coast, Canada

Bass Coast pays homage to its attendees by highlighting their various forms of freedom and self expression through candid shots and hypnotizing, low-lit crowd scenes. While it may not have as large of a production as other festivals, Bass Coast always honors its atmosphere of freedom and inclusivity for which it has become much respected.

World Bodypainting Festival, Austria

The World Bodypainting Festival brings fantasy to life, right before your eyes, with a spectrum of colors, the workings of talented artists, expressive models, and artistic spectacles such as fire-dancing, painted dancers, and musicians.

Envision Festival, Costa Rica

Intoxicating stage shots, beautiful drone footage of Costa Rica’s beaches and forest, and reels of Envision attendees participating in spiritual activities exemplify the tropical fest's utopian atmosphere. After watching this video, don't wait even a heartbeat to book your next vacation to the beautiful Rancho La Merced in Uvita.

Lightning In a Bottle, California

Lightning In a Bottle captures both serenity and unbridled excitement in its video, which is not an easy feat. However, that's exactly what being at LIB feels like. The juxtaposition of the calm moments found within the Lucent Temple of Consciousness with bass-thumping dance scenes, overlaid with RL Grime’s trap headbanger “Scylla,” gives this video a decided edge.

The Governors Ball Music Festival, New York

It only takes GovBall 15 seconds to capture our attention. Slow motion clips of festies being adorned and splattered in paint, water, and glitter capture the mystic ebullience that we wouldn’t expect from the aftermovie of a metropolitan, mainstream music festival. We have to give the fest props for mesmerizing us with the exuberant facial expressions of its attendees.

What The Festival, Oregon

What The Festival’s aftermovie tells the viewer instantly captured our attention with firsthand testimonials ("the greatest three days of my life," "it was pure bliss," "it was summer camp for adults")  from attendees and sweeping, sunlit scenes of the festival grounds. Add to that breathtaking views of the forest, a glittering and massive disco ball, the loungey clam shell, ecstatic dance scenes at the Splash Pool, and chill-laxing vibes that permeate the Oregonian venue, and this video perfectly explains the anything-goes aura at WTF.

Down the Rabbit Hole, Netherlands

If Down the Rabbit Hole’s kaleidoscopic, mirror-imaged intro doesn’t intrigue you, then its sequence of festivities, ranging from raft building to screenprinting, will. Mix in lively rock performances to scenes of just about any festival adventure you can think of unfolding right before your very eyes, and you have an astonishing aftermovie that'll make you yearn for tickets to next year’s event.

Secret Solstice, Iceland

Is this a National Geographic special or what? Secret Solstice fabulously marries Iceland’s unparalleled landscapes with scenes of ecstatic festies lost in the moment for one heck of a FOMO-inducing recap.

DGTL Barcelona, Spain

DGTL Barcelona Festival’s aftermovie certainly does not lack a strong "wow" factor. Apocalyptic and industrial shots transition into festival exhilaration with throngs of dancers losing it in the festival’s urban aesthetic, which definitely sets it apart from so many other fest aftermovies that are rife with nature.

Sziget, Hungary

If you haven’t been to Sziget, this video will make you want to teleport there immediately. In nine short minutes, we become enveloped in Hungary’s bright cityscapes, colorful madness, flag-waving festies, and unadulterated artistic expression from every direction.

Dirtybird Campout, California

Dirtybird Campout’s aftermovie will bring out the kid in you. Packed with absurd silliness (camp games and activities, and in-costume counselors galore!) and deep house bass in your face, the video captures all the great qualities of a festival mixed with the childlike silliness of summer camp.

Honorable Mention: Amsterdam Dance Event, Netherlands

We couldn’t skip Amsterdam Dance Event's new mini-documentary, RESONATE. It features exclusive artist interviews and stories that detail the festival's unique culture and the future of electronic music. Although not quite an aftermovie recapping festival highlights – even though it includes several clips from the event – RESONATE is an expertly produced video that explains why ADE is so respected in the global dance music scene.
