In Photos: Serious Stage Eye Candy from Ultra 2017
Every March, Ultra's flagship music festival takes over Miami with plenty of flare, style and bombast. It has to, because its lineups are so huge, it requires its tricked-out stages to match.
This year, the likes of Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Armin Van Buuren, Carl Cox, Hardwell, Major Lazer, Sasha + John Digweed, Martin Garrix, Seth Troxler, Alesso, The Prodigy, Underworld, Cypress Hill, and many more came to conquer, while surprise performers galore appeared throughout the weekend, including Future, Louis Tomlinson, Alessia Cara, Kygo, 2 Chainz and Lil Jon, to name a few. (Just peep Ultra's incredible collection of 2017's performances captured in 4K resolution on its YouTube page here.) 165,000 attendees from over 60 countries left the festival at the end of the weekend elated, surprised, and deliciously exhausted.
Of course, the festival's wow factor centers around its aforementioned stages. Soaring above the crowds and decorated with high-tech lighting, confetti cannons, LEDs, and screens projecting trippy designs, the stages – even by day – are something to behold. Once night falls and the lasers, strobes and pyrotechnics come alive, Ultra's stages take the festival experience to a whole new level. And let's not forget about Arcadia Spectacular, the stage disguised as a massive, fire-breathing metal spider that blew minds all weekend at Ultra's Resistance Stage.
