The Midwest festival scene is growing every year, thanks to the solid rep of Electric Forest and newer events with intense followings like Infrasound Music Festival. One event we're excited to see grow is UpNorth Music + Arts Festival . Under the vast, starlit skies of Midwest, in Copemish, Michigan, UpNorth unites festies for a weekend of incredible tunes and live art.

Now in its second year, UpNorth will up the ante with an even bigger array of artists to dazzle festival-goers.

G Jones, Louis The Child, and red-hot deadmau5 techno protege REZZ headline, while notable names like Chrome Sparks, Mark Farina, Koan Sound, Haywyre, Big Wild, Buku, Lane 8, Chet Porter, and many more fill out a star-studded lineup.

But the festival stands for more than just offering a few fields in which music lovers can watch their favorite bands (although that's definitely not a bad thing). With a focus on community, UpNorth's vision centers around creating an environment where its attendees can bask in their own unique happy places, together: "This is also about more than just music and art. This is about connecting like-minded people who truly want to make this world a better place. Through the ripple effect we will impact countless lives." Isn't this what festivals are all about?

True to its mission statement, the festival was created as a collaboration between Broomhead Music Festival, Motor City Art Machine, Feel Good Now, Brew City Bass, Layercake Presents and a few other organizations like local businesses FyouNK Clothing, Wild Stage Dynamics, Insideout Presents, Young Heavy Souls, and more. According to Huffington Post, "the concept was to create a new type of event that continues to set the standard for the community in production, operations, and safety as well as with top notch music and art."

Copemish, Michigan, is a gorgeous place full of deciduous forests, lush pastures and streams. If you're luckily, you will even see the aurora borealis streaming across the night sky. Even if the celestial phenomenon doesn't make an appearance, the Milky Way is plenty visible from the festival grounds, making for a mesmerizing show every night, on top of the music.
