Sometimes going to a classical music festival is sort of like going “Bach” in time. Many are dedicated to the music of great classical music performers, such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Sebastian Bach, while other festivals might feature a few of their scores. Some classical music festivals focus on chamber music, such as the New York Chamber Music Festival. The Washington Square Music Festival in New York, which was founded in 1953, features an array of genres, such as chamber orchestra, jazz and opera. And that’s just scratching the surface. Classical music festivals are happening in cities around the world, whether they’re featuring your local symphony orchestra or an internationally known cellist.
