Thailand’s capital of Bangkok is one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most diverse cities. For centuries, Bangkok has been developing its own unique culture that is evidently expressed in its festivals. It’s massive, golden temples house many spiritual and religious events that attracts thousands of attendees. The city also hosts the largest water fight in the world in Songkran. Through a large population of native Chinese citizens and speakers, yearly festivals like the Chinese New Year are celebrated city wide. Wrapping up each year is a luminary wonder called Loi Krathong. Thais light little candles and place them in boats to be sailed down river. Thousands upon thousands of little flames bob gently down the Chao Phraya river. The city is very affordable and friendly to all travelers.
