Fifth Annual Pearland International Festival Announces Lineup for September 15th 5pm-10pm & September 16th 11am-10pm PEARLAND, TEXAS – The Pearland International Festival, an annual celebration of the cultural expansion and impression in Pearland, has announced the program and line-up changes for the 5th annual festival. The new line-up for the festival will include an intimate Friday evening concert followed by a full day of family activities and entertainment on Saturday. The dates have been confirmed as September 15-16, 2017 where the two-day bash will be held at the International Festival’s new location at The Pearland Town Center 11200 Broadway Street, Pearland, Texas 77584. The Festival has grown tremendously since its institution in 2012, now celebrating five years of providing local graduating students with performing and visual arts scholarships. The Pearland International Festival is going to be filled with live music, cultural dancing performances, activities, international food and vendor booths, children's entertainment, a kids zone, as well as the “Taste of Pearland” VIP tent with wine, food, and fine art. This year, the VIP tent will again offer “A Taste of Pearland” showcasing local art and tastes from area restaurants and is co-sponsored by Reflection Bay Event Center at Shadow Creek. Guests will enjoy wines from around the globe, and local wineries will be on hand to offer samples paired with bites from local restaurants plus fine art viewing by local artists. “With the growth of the festival and the excitement we have been able to generate regarding our community’s diversity, the Foundation felt that we needed to expand this year’s festival,” said Joshua Hari, co-founder of the Pearland Foundation for the Performing and Visual Arts. “The two-day event will provide us with a number of amazing food vendors, cultural performances, and highlight Pearland’s cultural mix.” The Friday, September 15 concert lineup and kickoff dance party begin with live music from Houston's “The Galaxy Band,” recipient of the Caribbean Achievement Award 2014, and 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016 TRRR Female Vocalist of the Year, Bri Bagwell. Along with great music, enjoy International cuisine from local vendors and various beverage stations, including beer, wine, sodas, and water. The $25 admission for Friday also allows entry for Saturday’s event. However, Friday night will be $15 and Saturday $10 for general admission, $5 for 12 years and under, military, and seniors 65 and older. Parking is free. The Saturday, September 16 family-friendly line-up will feature cultural performances from nearly every region of the globe. Acts hit the stage shortly after the national anthem at 11 a.m. and include Miss Houston Carribean Festival along with performances from Panama, Mexico, India, Spain, and much more. Live music performances from Pearland’s Modulation Band, who sings everything from Stevie Wonder and Wilson Pickett to Chicago, Doobie Brothers and Bruno Mars... and everything in between! Sandy G. y Los Gavilanes, who performed Tejano Day at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo will help get your gritó on. For the past three decades, our Denton, Texas-based headliner band Brave Combo, has perfected a world music mix that includes salsa, meringue, rock, cumbia, conjunto, polka, zydeco, classical, cha cha, the blues and more. They are America’s Premier Dance band, and a rollicking, rocking, rhythmic global journey, the band has won two Grammy Awards and been nominated for their work seven times, cap off Saturday’s festivities. Tickets can also be purchased for the Reflection Bay Event Center “Taste of Pearland” VIP tent. VIP tent sales are for one of two flights – an early flight from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and later flight from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The $50 VIP admission grants you access to a number of food and wine vendors from the Pearland area and includes a keepsake wine glass and other discounts at participating restaurants and wineries. The festival boasts an enhanced H-E-B Kids Zone experience, with many free activities for children including face painting, rides, and arts and crafts. Also, live music and dance performances, international food, and family-fun activities with occur throughout Saturday’s Festival. “We appreciate the generous support of our community partners, including H-E-B,” said Mark Smith, this year’s past chairman of the Pearland Foundation for the Performing and Visual Arts. “It’s because of their support that we can offer many of the Kids Zone activities for free. Culture is about family and community; we want our families to come out and have a great time.” The festival is co-sponsored in part by the Pearland Convention & Visitors Bureau and has arranged hotel rates for a weekend stay.
