Jungle Jam is a quaint festival located down in the bohemian coastal town of Jaco, Costa Rica. The festival is held at the private resort of DoceLunas and is host to a number of jam bands (hence the fest's name), reggae and electronic acts, both local and international. Performers in the past have included Bill Kreutzmann (of the Grateful Dead), Mike Gordon (of Phish), Slightly Stoopid, Thievery Corporation, and Steel Pulse. The event perfectly embodies the Tico culture and guests can spend their days surfing, exploring the jungle, or just relaxing under in the shade of a palm tree. Pura Vida at its finest.

Mayan Holidaze (Punta Caña, Dominican Republic)

If camping and roughing it isn’t your thing and you dream of a more pampered, vacation-style musical experience, Mayan Holidaze is for you. This five-day, all-inclusive event is held in Punta Caña, Dominican Republic at the Breathless Resort and Spa, where the musical offerings range from funk to jamtronica acts that include The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee, Lettuce, and Papadosio, among others. Enjoy your own private terraces, luxury meals, and pristine beach access by day, while you prepare to throw down and dance hard all night. The event is put on by Cloud9 Adventures, which hosts a number of resort-focused destination festivals around the Caribbean.

SXM Festival (St. Martin)

For this young music festival, the island of St Martin welcomes some of the world’s top house and techno DJs. Don’t expect Calvin Harris or Avicii, though: It’s all focused on the deeper side of house music, so think downtown Miami during the Winter Music Conference, or perhaps Output in New York. The vibe is one of electronic decadence, and parties will be going down on beaches and by pools all over the bucolic island. Jamie Jones, Maeco Plex, Guy Gerber, DJ Tennis, and Bedouin all performed in SXM's first year, and its second year is still rife with stars like Fur Coat, Lee Burridge, Bob Moses, Nina Kraviz, and many more filling out the 2017 lineup.

It's an immersive journey into Mexican and Mayan culture that blends traditional Mayan ceremonies, local performers, arts, the lush magic of the Mayan Riviera, top house and techno talent, and the support of Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels to guide attendees' through 24 hours of cultural, musical and self exploration in the jungle. Free from the confines of a club, the event draws heavy inspiration from its surroundings in order to promote diversity and cultural awareness, adding Latin sounds and native performances to its musical lineup and nods to indigenous culture and a revered respect for the land, making for a one heck of a jungle romp.

World Creole Music Festival (Roseau, Dominica)

Some of these genres include Soukous, Zydeco, Zouk, and Cadence-lypso, among others. The festival's purpose is to promote tourism and expose local musicians to an international audience – and it has succeeded. The festival now attracts well over 25,000 during its three days. It’s featured groups such as Tabou Combo, Magnum Band, Ophelia Maria, as well as notable U.S. acts like Wyclef Jean. While there, you'll experience the unique culture of the French Caribbean and eat, dance, and sweat the days away in one of the region's most desirable islands.

Universo Paralello (Ituberá, Bahia, Brazil)

Universo Paralello translates to “parallel universe” in Portuguese. It’s the best, most concise way to describe the feeling of this utopian Brazilian music and arts festival that takes a New Year’s Eve celebration and stretches it into a 10-day psychedelic, trance music affair. Since 2003, thousands have clamored each consecutive year through the mountains of the Brazilian highlands to reach the sands of Pratigi Beach. Somehow untouched by the growing tourism around it, Pratigi Beach still seems like the most remote place on Earth, especially one designated for a rave at the end of each calendar year. Yet, nestled somewhere along the mangrove-sheltered, beachside locale is where Brazil’s trance scene actually took root. Between the highly caffeinated maté tea and the hallucinogenic ayahuasca fertile in the Amazonian region, this type of electronic music seems native, almost natural.

Crash My Playa (Riviera Maya, Mexico)

Whether you’re a country music fan or not, Luke Bryan’s inaugural Crash My Playa Festival in 2015 was a tremendous success and set itself up as one the premier destination festivals for country music fans. The tropical getaway is located down in the beautiful Riviera Maya region of Mexico and hosted at the world-class Barcelo Resort, which transforms its beach into a majestic Mayan oasis during the event. Now in its third year, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Randy Houser, and many other notable country performers will gather for a week of fun in the sun and unforgettable beach parties. You can spend your days lounging beachside, take part in a number of nearby excursions, or walk around and discover the nearby ruins of Tulúm. But leave the cowboy boots at home, it's way too hot for them here.
