Carl Cox is about to do what any wildly successful house and techno mainstay who's received top billing at festivals around the world for years, would do: he's starting his own festival, in the hotspot of Australia, no less.

Slated to kick off in April 2016, Pure is an event Cox hopes to "build it into something annually for Australia.” Regarding the lineup, the house and techno trailblazer told inthemix .com “We haven’t decided exactly where we’re going to do them or who’s coming to the table... But when we last spoke to all of the international DJs who are interested in being involved in our festival, they’ve all said, yep, we’d like to do it. A lot of it will just be down to availability and timing, but primarily you’re going to have the best DJs playing the best music. "

Cox also stated that Pure will hit two cities, Melbourne and Sydney, so EDM fans will have two chances to catch the genre trailblazer's impeccably curated lineup.

With a DJ as globally revered as Cox at the helm, we'll say o h yes, oh yes to that.

And still more big things are happening for Cox in the near future; he'll be a keynote speaker at Asia Pacific’s leading Electronic Music Conference (EMC), which boasts over 100 artists and industry figures and plenty of keynotes, panels, masterclasses and networking sessions this December 1-2. And he undoubtedly has much to teach the rest of the industry; a big personality with immaculate taste, supreme technical mixing skills and more plaudits than we can list, Carl Cox and dance music are inextricably linked together. In this much-anticipated forty minute keynote conversation, we’ll cover everything from his origin story to the role of the DJ in 2015, and what the future holds for Cox – and techno.
