Alabama's got a new festival, and it's called Sloss. Modest Mouse, Primus, Band of Horses, Lord Huron, The New Pornographers, Cage the Elephant, Grifters are slated to bring this first-time fest to life.

Aiming to tap back into the rock and country scene that burns strong in the Birmingham area, Sloss will feature 30 artists on 3 stages: the Steam Stage, the Blast Stage and the Shed Stage (all named for iron production terms).

The Sloss Furnaces, which will host the fest, produced iron for nearly 90 years. It is now recognized as a National Historic Landmark and features a "web of pipes and tall smokestacks that offers us a glimpse into the great industrial past of the South and our nation."

The festival will take place July 17-19, 2015 at the Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark, and tickets are available here .
