Eight days. 130,000 visitors. 173 acts. Nine stages. And one festival called Roskilde. As one of the most massive music festivals in all of Europe, Roskilde is more of a cultural event than mere festival at this point, due to to its sheer magnitude and the gloriously international array of artists it pulls in every year. In fact, it's such a behemoth that the festival offers four "warm-up" days full of events before its main musical offerings even begin, just to prime festival-goers for the madness to come.

As you can see from the lineup below – which was just announced today – everyone from global superstars like The Weeknd and Blink 182 and Arcade Fire, to niche acts like Pig Destroyer, to indie mainstays like Moon Duo, to Nordic acts will perform.

Over the decades, Roskilde has grown into more of a massive cultural gathering than merely a music festival. One of the ways it has done so has been by raising money for organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, Support the Victims in Iraq, Save the Children and The World Wildlife Fund via the non-profit that runs it, the Roskilde Festival Charity Society – which has raised more than €36 million to date. Attractions beyond the music include the festival's first four "warm-up" days, which include Nordic acts, epic parties and engaging talks; an on-site skate park; the opportunities to swim in the on-site lake or take in films at the cinema; and the annual naked run, which sees hardy festival-goers streaking around the campsites for the chance to win free passes for the coming year.

Roskilde takes place in Roskilde, Denmark, from June 24-July 1, 2017. Grab tickets here, which include eight days of festival access plus free access to camping.
