Well, this is certainly one way to make damn well sure your festival has a place to pop off year after year, without having to worry about leases, rent, permits, or licensing ever again.

According to Pulseradio.net , a UK promotion company called Sound Channel, which runs Croatia's Unknown Festival, went and purchased the (until recently unknown) island of Obonjan, which is located on the Dalmatian Coast. They'll hold music festivals starting in Summer 2016, as well as host other events once the island is transformed into its full utopian, haven-esque potential – with no curmudgeonly neighbors or pesky curfews to stand in their way.

Apparently, it's been in the works for years. Sound Channel's heads told Pulseradio.net that they've been working for 3 years to procure the island in order to turn it into a "truly unique concept, combining art and music, wellness, sustainable living, amazing food and drink and fun and creative accommodation." Sounds just like any modern-day festival worth its salt, right? And the locale does make sense; Croatia has been gaining popularity as a festival – and vacation – destination in recent times, thanks to its affordable prices, practically tropical weather, and hint of Eastern European exoticism. The growing number of festivals there also include Hideout, The Garden Festival, Stop Making Sense, Dimensions Festival, and SuncéBeat.

We can't wait to see just how unique one of the world's newest festivals on Obonjan becomes.
