Say what?! Venerable indie festival Treasure Island Music Festival (TIMF), held on its namesake island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay just a hop, skip and a jump away from the big city itself, is saying goodbye to its longtime home.
After 10 amazing, bombastic years on Treasure Island, the music fest will relocate in 2017, continuing for years to come in another location that will be named at a later date. To mark the event's legacy of good times on the island, TIMF has a huge lineup on tap for its devoted fans.
Topping the bill are Icelandic superstars Sigur Ros, hip-hop royalty Ice Cube, who perform on stage alongside fellow N.W.A. members MC Ren and DJ Yella. You'll also find English singer-songwriter James Blake, electronica duo Purity Ring; UK-based Glass Animals, EDM pioneer Duke Dumont; UK rapper Stormzy; multi-instrumentalist producer Mura Masa; Spanish indie rockers Hinds; San Francisco's own Tycho and Deafheaven, and Canadian singer-songwriter Mac DeMarco. More of the impressive 10th-anniversary lineup is on the flyer below.
To top it off, TIMF will stage a fittingly awesome farewell party; we suspect fireworks and some special surprise guests, but who knows? Either way, the fest will do it up.
At Treasure Island Music Festival, you'll never miss a note of any of their favorite artists, as there are no overlapping sets. And in addition to the star-studded music lineup, TIMF provides attendees an array of fun activities at the festival, including the iconic 60-foot Century Ferris Wheel surrounded by an ever-changing diverse mix of interactive art installations and roaming performers, as well as some of the best cuisine the Bay Area has to offer.
The festival goes down October 15-16, 2016. Two-Day GA and VIP tickets will go on sale this Thursday, June 16 at 10 a.m. (PT) at treasureislandfestival.com. We'll keep you up to date on news of TIMF's future location as we get it.
