For those of us who are identical twins (hi Liz!) it's easy to forget that, to a lot of people, seeing two people who look the same is jarring. Even if you're a twin who didn’t grow up wearing matching outfits (thanks, mom!) or sharing bedrooms (thanks, mom!), people make you feel as though you've hit the genetic lottery. This weekend, the 40th annual Twins Day Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio will be celebrating that genetic lottery, that unbreakable bond, as twins around the world gather to bond over their unique birth situation.

An entire weekend dedicated to celebrating those of multiple births, Twins Day is a place where twins can meet, share stories and get to know others who understand what they go through. Coming across a set of twins in the wild brings out the best in people's curiosity, and I guarantee that bizarre questions asked by strangers, questions like "Who's the evil one?" "If she stubs her toe, do you feel it?", and the classic "Do you have the same birthday?" is a conversation that will never get old.

Twins are fascinating to a lot of people, and as festivals celebrating physical characteristics (redheads are big this year) have become wildly popular, it makes sense that a festival for twins has been around for a while. Each year has a chosen theme and in 2015, "Time Machines" are on display as the festival looks to the future.

The entertainment schedule includes events like talent shows, juggling displays and duo musical performances, but the real draw here is being among hundreds of pairs of identical twins, fraternal twins, triplets and more. No media is allowed at the festival, presumably to preserve the event's participants and culture from becoming a circus show.

Sharing your birthday with another person sounds like a fair deal when you get to have your very own festival weekend, don't you think?
