Getting There
If you’re coming from out of town and don’t feel like driving the length of Texas, book a flight to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and take a ride share from there. Parking will most likely be a nightmare downtown (it always is!), so it’s safe to say you should rely on Uber or Lyft when going to and from the festival.
Lodging
The organizers recommend you book a room at the Holiday Inn. Sixth street isn’t too far of a walk from there, plus you can see some of beautiful downtown Austin on your way there. Otherwise, Austin is chock-full of lodging options for all budget types. If you’re lucky, you can snag a room at the Firehouse Hostel on Brazos Street, which is literally a stone’s throw away from Sixth Street.
Free Admission!
It will cost you nothing to waltz onto Sixth Street. However, bring cash and credit cards anyway in case you want to purchase food or art.
Two Is Better Than One
Pecan Street Festival takes place twice a year: spring and fall. If you can’t make it during spring, go during fall. If you can’t make it during fall, go during spring. Or attend both! Don’t go a whole year without getting your festival on!
