Following the tragic shooting that took six lives at what was supposed to be The BPM Festival's exuberant 10th anniversary celebration, the event's organizers have decided to cancel its planned expansion to Brazil in April 2017.

In a newly released statement, the festival said:

Near the end, news of the Brazil edition's postponement came as a heartfelt thanks to the festival's fans, tinged with hope for the future: "We appreciate all the support from fans all over the world. We look forward to celebrating with you once again in the near future. For now, we will be postponing our plans for The BPM Festival: Brazil until further notice but we do hope you will join us at The BPM Festival: Portugal (September 2017) later this year."

In an additional blow to the festival after the shooting (which was cartel related), the mayor of Playa del Carmen (BPM's home for 10 years) banned the event from returning.

Props to BPM for taking a moment to heal and vowing to solider on with its Portugal edition. It will be a fitting tribute to its loyal crew and attendees whose lives were cut short in Mexico.
